As the saying goes, “it takes a village to raise a child”, and sometimes kids need to vent to a trusted adult other than a parent. One of our cohouser kids explains teardrop tea, which he drinks with a neighbor when he’s had a rough day. A helpful hint to future cohousing neighbors who may be invited to make a cup of teardrop tea: you don’t have to use real tears. Let the child pick out a mug from your shelf. Fill with warm water, add a pinch of salt and a pinch of sugar, and stir. Then settle in for a long chat about whatever’s bothering them.
